Delaware vs. Noblesville
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Noblesville Boom used a dominant first quarter and a series of explosive runs to overpower the Delaware Blue Coats 127-112 in a G League matchup Monday afternoon at the Arena at Innovation Mile.
The victory gave the Boom a two-game sweep of the back-to-back home set after a 126-102 win on Sunday, improving their record to 11-15. Delaware fell to 10-17 with its second consecutive loss.
The game was decisively shaped in the opening period, as the Boom erupted for 41 points, establishing a 15-point lead that the Blue Coats would spend the rest of the evening unsuccessfully trying to erase. Noblesville’s offensive barrage continued in the second quarter, extending the lead to as many as 22 points. Delaware, led by a 34-point second quarter of its own, managed to trim the deficit to 70-60 by halftime, but the early hole proved too deep.
The most critical phase of the game occurred late in the third quarter, when the Boom extinguished Delaware’s last sustained threat. After the Blue Coats had closed the gap to 86-84 following a 10-2 run, Noblesville responded with a devastating 9-0 surge in under a minute. The sequence was fueled by Ethan Thompson, who hit a running pull-up jumper and then assisted on a Gabe McGlothan layup before Kam Jones capped it with a floating jumper. Thompson then delivered the decisive blow, sinking a 28-foot running pull-up three-pointer at the 4:18 mark to push the lead back to 95-86, forcing a Delaware timeout and effectively halting the Blue Coats’ momentum for good.
Thompson spearheaded the Boom’s balanced attack, orchestrating the offense with timely scoring and playmaking. Jones provided a consistent scoring punch, particularly during the third-quarter stretch that secured control. The Boom’s interior presence was also felt, with Samson Johnson and McGlothan finishing effectively around the rim and on the glass.
For Delaware, DeAndre Williams anchored the effort with activity on both ends, while MarJon Beauchamp and Malcolm Hill provided offensive sparks. Kennedy Chandler facilitated for stretches, but the Blue Coats could not consistently string together stops to complement their scoring runs. The team’s defensive struggles were most apparent in the first and third quarters, where they allowed 41 and 34 points, respectively.
The Boom maintained a double-digit cushion throughout the fourth quarter, weathering every minor push from Delaware. The Blue Coats never got closer than nine points in the final period as Noblesville efficiently managed the clock and converted at the free-throw line to seal the victory.
The game unfolded largely as predicted by Interstat’s ELO system, which gave the Boom a 72.2 percent probability to win. Noblesville next travels to face the Wisconsin Herd on Thursday, while Delaware returns home to host the Motor City Cruise on Saturday.
