Oklahoma City vs. Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Stockton Kings weathered a furious fourth-quarter rally from the Oklahoma City Blue to secure a 117-110 victory in a G League contest Sunday at Stockton Arena.

The game’s defining sequence was a dramatic momentum shift that spanned the third and fourth quarters. The Kings, leveraging a dominant second and third period where they outscored the Blue 73-55, built a commanding 98-80 lead heading into the final 12 minutes. Oklahoma City, however, refused to capitulate.

The Blue opened the fourth quarter with a stunning 22-4 run, erasing the 18-point deficit in under six minutes. The surge was fueled by defensive pressure and efficient shooting. Zhaire Smith hit a 3-pointer, Jabri Abdur-Rahim followed with another, and Brooks Barnhizer capped the run with a driving layup to tie the game at 102-102 with 8:21 remaining.

Stockton, which entered the game with a 17-8 record and a 94.7% win probability according to Interstat’s ELO system, responded with a timeout to stem the tide. The teams traded baskets before the Kings created crucial separation in the final minutes. With the score tied at 110 and 3:20 left, Oklahoma City’s Buddy Boeheim committed a turnover that Mitch Mascari stole. DaQuan Jeffries converted the fast break with a running jumper to put Stockton ahead for good.

The Kings then sealed the game at the free-throw line. Jeffries made two free throws with 18 seconds left after a foul, and Dexter Dennis iced the victory with two more with four seconds remaining following another Oklahoma City foul. A final turnover by the Blue’s Anthony Pritchard ended any last hope.

Stockton’s victory was built on its explosive middle quarters. After trailing 21-25 after one, the Kings erupted for 36 points in the second and 37 in the third. Balanced scoring was key, with Jeffries, Daeqwon Plowden, Jon Elmore and Dexter Dennis all making significant contributions throughout the game’s critical phases.

For Oklahoma City, which fell to 6-19, the loss underscored a season of narrow defeats despite a resilient effort. Barnhizer was a consistent force for the Blue, making key baskets during both the early game and the late comeback attempt. Smith provided offensive sparks, including during the fourth-quarter rally.

The Kings improved to 18-8 with the win, while the Blue’s losing streak extended. Stockton will next visit the Valley Suns on Wednesday. Oklahoma City returns home to host the Austin Spurs on Tuesday.
