Salt Lake City vs. Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Interstat) — The surging Sioux Falls Skyforce host the slumping Salt Lake City Stars in a G League matchup Sunday at the Sanford Pentagon, with both teams looking to build momentum ahead of the stretch run.
The Stars (17-8) arrive having lost three straight and four of their last five, including a 120-118 home loss to Austin on Thursday. The Skyforce (14-10), meanwhile, have won four of their last six and are coming off a 119-107 road victory at Memphis on Tuesday.
Salt Lake City’s recent struggles have come despite dominant play from center Oscar Tshiebwe. Over his last three games, all losses, Tshiebwe has averaged 15.3 points and 19.0 rebounds. He posted 21 points and 16 rebounds in Thursday’s defeat, where Sean East added 21 points and five assists.
Sioux Falls is powered by the versatile scoring of Josh Christopher. The wing is averaging 22.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists over his last nine contests. He scored 25 points with seven rebounds and five assists in the win over Memphis, supported by a 29-point outing from Trevor Keels.
This game is the second of a back-to-back set between the teams, following a Saturday afternoon contest at the same venue. The result of that game was not provided.
The Stars, who still hold one of the league’s best records, will aim to halt their skid behind Tshiebwe’s interior presence. The Skyforce will counter with Christopher’s perimeter attack and look to capitalize on home court to climb closer in the standings.
Salt Lake City begins a three-game homestand on Wednesday against Memphis. Sioux Falls opens a brief two-game homestand Wednesday against Long Island before embarking on a six-game road trip.
