SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Interstat) — The Santa Cruz Warriors used a dominant second quarter to outpace the Valley Suns for a 123-115 G League victory Saturday at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Santa Cruz outscored Valley 38-28 in the period to build a lead it never relinquished. The Warriors withstood multiple Valley rallies, including a late push that cut the deficit to two points in the final minute. L.J. Cryer’s clutch free throws in the closing seconds sealed the win.

Charles Bassey led a balanced Santa Cruz attack. Valley’s Damion Baugh and Jaden Shackelford keyed the comeback effort. The Warriors improved to 7-17, while the Suns fell to 6-18. The teams meet again Monday in Santa Cruz.
