Cleveland vs. Texas
Preview: Cleveland Charge at Texas Legends
FRISCO, Texas (Interstat) — The Cleveland Charge (12-7) bring a winning record on the road to face the struggling Texas Legends (9-13) in a G League matchup Friday night at Dr Pepper Arena.
Cleveland enters having won three of its last four, including a 131-126 overtime victory over Long Island on Jan. 2. The Charge are led by forward Luke Travers, who is coming off a dominant performance in that win, posting 27 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in 41 minutes. Over his last three games, Travers is averaging 18.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
The Texas Legends look to halt a two-game skid after back-to-back road losses in Mexico City. Their fortunes rest heavily on the play of guard Dalano Banton, who has been a statistical force. Banton is averaging 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists over the last two games and has recorded four triple-doubles this season, including a 36-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist effort in a loss to Austin on Dec. 12.
The teams will meet again at the same venue Sunday, concluding a two-game set. Cleveland holds a significant edge in the standings, but Texas has shown explosive offensive capability, particularly at home where they scored 132 and 126 points in two games against Austin last month.
For Cleveland, support for Travers comes from guard Killian Hayes, who nearly had a triple-double against Long Island with 28 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists, and center Norchad Omier, who adds a strong interior presence. Texas will rely on Banton’s all-around game and scoring from wing Miles Kelly, who had 23 points in the last outing.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
