Westchester vs. Motor City

Struggling Westchester Knicks Face Motor City Cruise in G League Clash

WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — The Westchester Knicks, owners of the G League’s worst record, seek to halt a prolonged skid when they visit the Motor City Cruise on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at DeltaPlex Arena.

Westchester (2-17) enters on a five-game losing streak, including a 139-90 home defeat to Capital City on Thursday that marked one of its most lopsided losses of the season. The Knicks have lost 15 of their last 16 contests.

Motor City (8-11) looks to rebound after a 123-114 home loss to Grand Rapids on Tuesday. The Cruise have shown a potent offense, averaging 121.3 points in their last 10 games, but have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over their past six outings.

A key matchup will feature Westchester forward Tosan Evbuomwan against Motor City guard Jaden Akins. Evbuomwan is coming off a strong individual performance in the blowout loss, posting 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Over his last seven games, he has averaged 19.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

Akins has been a dynamic scorer and playmaker for the Cruise. He erupted for 33 points and six assists against Grand Rapids and is averaging 18.8 points and 6.6 assists over his last eight contests. His backcourt pairing with Quincy Olivari, who recorded a triple-double (22 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists) in the last game, provides Motor City with considerable firepower.

Westchester’s recent results have been defined by defensive struggles, allowing an average of 124.2 points during their five-game slide. Beyond Evbuomwan, guard Dink Pate (26 points, 10 rebounds vs. Capital City) has provided a bright spot.

Motor City will aim to control the tempo at home, where they are 5-5 this season. The Cruise won the only prior meeting between these teams this season, 121-101, on Nov. 16.

The teams will meet again at the same venue on Sunday, Jan. 4, to conclude a back-to-back set.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
