San Diego vs. South Bay

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Interstat) — A Pacific Division rematch with playoff implications is set for Tuesday when the South Bay Lakers host the San Diego Clippers in a G League contest at the UCLA Health Training Center.

The Clippers (8-4) enter with the superior record and recent history on their side, having swept a two-game home set from the Lakers (6-7) on Nov. 29-30. San Diego held on for a 124-113 win on Nov. 29, followed by a narrow 108-107 victory the next day.

San Diego arrives after a 112-103 home win over Santa Cruz on Saturday. Forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. led the way with 21 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes. Baldwin has been a key offensive variable for the Clippers; he erupted for 35 points in a win over Rip City on Nov. 23 but was held to just four points in the Nov. 29 meeting with South Bay.

The Lakers look to halt a two-game skid after falling 122-116 to Rip City on Saturday. Forward Chris Manon posted a double-double in the loss with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Manon has been a consistent contributor for South Bay, averaging 13.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists over his last 10 games, including both recent losses to San Diego.

South Bay will need a stronger defensive effort after allowing an average of 116 points in those two defeats. The Lakers have lost three of their last four overall. San Diego has won three of its last four, with the lone loss coming on the road against Valley.

The season series shifts to El Segundo for the first time this year, with the Lakers seeking home-court advantage to help level the tally. The teams will meet again in South Bay on Jan. 14.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST.
