Stockton vs. Rip City
Preview of Tuesday’s G League Showdown Between Stockton and Rip City
PORTLAND, Ore. (Interstat) — The Stockton Kings and Rip City Remix, two teams knotted at 8-5 in the standings, will complete a rare consecutive-night series Tuesday when they meet again at the Chiles Center.
The Remix narrowly took the first matchup 116-110 on Monday, setting the stage for an immediate rebound opportunity for the visiting Kings in this NBA G League contest.
Both teams arrive with identical records and potent offensive weapons. For Stockton, forward DaQuan Jeffries looks to build on a 20-point, 12-rebound performance in Monday’s loss. He averaged 10.7 points and 8.0 rebounds over his last three games prior to that outing.
Rip City is powered by the versatile Dillon Jones, who is coming off a near-triple-double with 24 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in a win over South Bay on Saturday. Jones has recorded four triple-doubles already this season, including a 26-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist effort on Dec. 4.
The Kings will aim to break a two-game skid, having also lost to Salt Lake City on Dec. 4 before Monday’s defeat. The Remix have alternated wins and losses over their past five games, showcasing a high-scoring but inconsistent attack. They surrendered a season-worst 174 points in a loss to Salt Lake City on Dec. 11 but have also topped 146 points three times this season.
This two-game set in Portland serves as a prelude to a home-and-home series later this month, with the Remix traveling to Stockton for games on Dec. 27 and 28.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center.
