Raptors 905 vs. Westchester
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Raptors 905 remained the G League’s only undefeated team, using a dominant second quarter to pull away from the Westchester Knicks for a 126-99 victory on Tuesday afternoon at Westchester County Center.
The visitors improved to 14-0, while Westchester fell to 1-12.
The game was competitive early, with Westchester holding a narrow 26-29 lead after one quarter behind the interior presence of Ibrahima Diallo. The turning point came in the second period, where the Raptors 905 unleashed a 36-point offensive barrage while holding the Knicks to 27. A key sequence saw the Raptors force four Westchester turnovers in just over two minutes, fueling a 14-2 run that broke the game open. Alijah Martin and A.J. Lawson were instrumental during the stretch, combining for quick scores off steals to give Raptors 905 a 65-53 halftime lead they would not relinquish.
Martin, named the top star for Raptors 905, led all scorers with 22 points, adding four rebounds and an assist in just 24 minutes of action. His back-to-back plays early in the first quarter—a driving layup followed by a steal and a dunk assisted by Chucky Hepburn—set an aggressive tone for the visitors.
Hepburn, the point guard from Omaha, Nebraska, directed the offense with precision, dishing out eight assists to go with his 14 points. Center Julian Reese of Baltimore provided a strong interior presence with 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks off the bench. Lawson finished with 16 points and five rebounds.
For Westchester, Diallo recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, also blocking four shots. Nick Jourdain led the Knicks in scoring with 17 points and added six rebounds and four assists in a team-high 40 minutes. Bryson Warren contributed 18 points and five assists, while Dink Pate had 16 points and six rebounds.
The Raptors 905 maintained control throughout the second half, extending their lead by outscoring Westchester 31-20 in the third quarter. Their ball movement and defensive pressure were consistent, as they generated 12 steals as a team and assisted on 28 of their made baskets. The lead ballooned to as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter before settling at the 27-point final margin.
The victory continued a stark contrast in seasons for the two franchises. Raptors 905 have now won their last three games by an average of 19 points. Westchester, meanwhile, has lost five straight and 12 of its last 13.
The teams are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, Dec. 30, in Mississauga, Ontario.
