Delaware vs. Capital City
Preview: Blue Coats at Go-Go Set for G League Showdown
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build momentum will meet Sunday when the Delaware Blue Coats visit the Capital City Go-Go in a G League matchup at CareFirst Arena.
The game tips off at 3 p.m. EST on Dec. 14.
Delaware (3-9) enters on a five-game losing streak, most recently falling 111-102 at Raptors 905 on Thursday. Capital City (5-7) snapped a three-game skid with a dominant 111-77 victory over Maine on Friday.
The spotlight will be on a battle in the paint between two of the league’s most productive big men. Delaware’s Johni Broome has been a consistent force, averaging 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds over his last five games. He is coming off a 21-point, 10-rebound, 7-assist, 4-block performance in his last outing.
Capital City will counter with veteran center Skal Labissiere, who posted a 20-point, 10-redouble-double in just 27 minutes during Friday’s win. Over his last seven games, Labissiere is averaging 19.3 points and 7.6 rebounds.
The Blue Coats will need more support for Broome, with Malcolm Hill (23 points Thursday) and DeAndre Williams providing key scoring. The Go-Go, who had six players score in double figures against Maine, will look for similar balanced production led by Labissiere and Akoldah Gak (18 points, 8 rebounds Friday).
This contest is the first of a quick home-and-home set between the teams, who will meet again in Capital City on Tuesday. Delaware will aim to leverage Broome’s interior dominance to break its slump, while the Go-Go seek to defend their home court and climb back toward .500.
Capital City holds a slight edge in the standings, but both clubs have struggled defensively, setting the stage for a potentially high-scoring affair. The Go-Go have allowed 106.8 points per game, while the Blue Coats have surrendered a league-worst 124.3 points per contest.
