Long Island vs. Westchester
Preview: Long Island Nets at Westchester Knicks
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — A struggling Westchester Knicks squad seeks to end a lengthy skid when they host the Long Island Nets in a G League matchup on Friday night at Westchester County Center.
The Knicks (1-9) enter on a six-game losing streak, most recently falling 118-91 at Greensboro on Dec. 7. Their lone victory this season came on Nov. 22 at Capital City. Center Trey Jemison has been a bright spot, averaging 9.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over his last six contests. He recorded 14 rebounds and five blocks in the loss to Greensboro.
Long Island (5-7) looks to bounce back from a 114-107 overtime loss to College Park on Tuesday. The Nets had won two straight prior to that defeat.
The player to watch is Long Island guard Nolan Traore, who is in the midst of a stellar stretch. Over his last five games, Traore is averaging 22.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists. He posted a 30-point, 6-assist performance in a win at Delaware on Dec. 5 and followed with 26 points and 11 assists in an overtime victory the next night.
This will be the second meeting between the affiliates in three days. Long Island defeated Westchester 64-34 in a previously unreported contest on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Specific details from that game were not immediately available.
The Nets’ offense, fueled by Traore’s dynamic playmaking, will test a Westchester defense that has allowed an average of 110.3 points during its losing streak. For the Knicks to compete, they will need a stronger offensive output after scoring 91 points or fewer in three of their last four games.
Following this contest, Westchester hosts Raptors 905 on Dec. 16. Long Island’s next game is not until Dec. 28 at College Park.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
