Greensboro vs. College Park
ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm unleashed a dominant offensive performance from the opening tip, building a massive first-quarter lead and never looking back in a decisive 139-108 victory over the College Park Skyhawks in a G League game Friday night at Gateway Center.
The most important part of the game was unquestionably the opening period, where Greensboro established a tone of overwhelming firepower that College Park could never counter. The Swarm erupted for 45 points in the first quarter, connecting from deep and attacking the rim with ease, while simultaneously stifling the Skyhawks’ early efforts. This explosive start created an 18-point cushion by the end of the quarter, a deficit from which College Park never recovered.
Greensboro’s offensive execution was crisp from the outset. The Swarm’s early barrage was a team effort, but it was fueled by the inside-outside combination of P.J. Hall and the playmaking of Marcus Garrett. Hall scored from the perimeter, including a 26-foot three-pointer, and finished at the rim, while Garrett orchestrated the offense with a series of assists. Even when the Skyhawks’ Malik Williams tried to keep pace with an active first quarter of his own, the Swarm had an immediate answer, often within seconds, to maintain and extend their commanding lead.
That initial surge set the trajectory for the entire contest. The Swarm’s lead ballooned to 31 points by halftime, 74-54, after they added 29 more points in the second quarter. The Skyhawks, to their credit, showed persistent effort and managed to score consistently across all four quarters, but they could never put together the sustained defensive stops necessary to cut meaningfully into the Greensboro advantage. Every time College Park scored, the Swarm responded efficiently on the other end, maintaining a comfortable margin throughout the second half.
Greensboro improved its season record to 9-4 with the win, showcasing the high-octane offense that has become its hallmark. College Park fell to 4-8 with the loss, despite a gritty performance that saw them avoid a complete collapse after the disastrous first period.
The two teams are scheduled to meet again at Gateway Center on Sunday, giving the Skyhawks a quick opportunity for redemption and the Swarm a chance to secure a weekend road sweep.
