Long Island vs. Westchester
Long Island Nets Look to Continue Momentum Against Struggling Westchester Knicks
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Long Island Nets visit the Westchester Knicks in a G League matchup Wednesday night at Westchester County Center, with the visiting Nets aiming to capitalize on their recent offensive surge against a Knicks team mired in a prolonged slump.
Long Island (5-7) enters having split a high-scoring, back-to-back set at Delaware last weekend before falling 114-107 in overtime to College Park on Tuesday. The Nets have shown potent scoring ability, averaging 120.3 points over their last three contests.
A primary catalyst has been forward E.J. Liddell, who is coming off a dominant 39-point, 13-rebound, six-block performance in a 137-135 overtime win at Delaware on Dec. 6. In his previous game, he posted a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double. His interior presence will be a major focus for the Nets’ attack.
Westchester (1-9) seeks to halt a five-game losing streak, most recently a 118-91 road loss to Greensboro on Sunday. The Knicks have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 112.8 points per game during their skid.
Center Trey Jemison has been a consistent bright spot for Westchester, averaging a double-double over his last seven games. He grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked five shots in the loss to Greensboro. Guard Dink Pate and forward Nick Jourdain each contributed 20 points in that contest, providing secondary scoring.
Despite their losing record, the Nets hold a clear advantage in the season series narrative and recent form. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 120-100 victory for Long Island.
The game will be the first of a brief two-game set between the affiliates, with a rematch scheduled for Friday at the same venue.
