Maine vs. Capital City

Preview: Hot Maine Celtics Visit Capital City Go-Go in G League Showdown

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The surging Maine Celtics, owners of the G League’s best record, visit the struggling Capital City Go-Go in a Wednesday afternoon matchup at CareFirst Arena.

Maine (8-3) enters on a five-game winning streak, including a dominant 118-95 victory over College Park on Sunday. The Celtics have been an offensive juggernaut, averaging 119.1 points during their streak. Capital City (4-6) looks to halt a three-game skid, most recently falling 124-120 at Raptors 905 last Friday.

A key matchup will feature two of the league’s most versatile performers. Maine’s Amari Williams is coming off a historic triple-double, posting 10 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in just 24 minutes on Sunday. Over his last five games, the center is averaging a near triple-double of 9.2 points, 13.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists, anchoring the Celtics’ system.

Capital City will counter with dynamic guard Keshon Gilbert, who is coming off a career-high 33-point, 10-assist performance in the loss to Raptors 905. Gilbert has been a bright spot, averaging 22.0 points and 8.3 assists over his last three contests. His backcourt battle with Maine’s Keon Johnson, who scored 17 points Sunday, will be pivotal.

The Celtics have found success with balance. Forward Jalen Bridges added 20 points in the Sunday win, providing efficient scoring alongside Williams’ all-around play. The Go-Go will need a strong interior presence from center Skal Labissiere, who recorded a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double last week, to counter Maine’s momentum.

This contest begins a home-and-home set between the teams, who will meet again in Capital City on Friday. The Go-Go, seeking stability after a 1-5 stretch, face a stern test against a Maine team that has won eight of its last nine following an 0-2 start to the season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday at CareFirst Arena.
