Spurs Edge Capitanes in G League Thriller Behind Jones’ Late Heroics

MEXICO CITY (Interstat) — David Jones scored the game’s final four points, lifting the Austin Spurs to a 110-107 victory over the Mexico City Capitanes in a G League matchup Monday night at Estadio Azteca.

Austin built a 60-47 halftime lead with a dominant 41-point second quarter but surrendered it as Mexico City responded with a 32-point third. The teams traded leads in a tense final period. Jones, who led all scorers, hit a 15-foot jumper with 1:12 remaining to tie it at 107, then sank a 14-footer with 32 seconds left for the decisive margin.

The Spurs improved to 10-1, while the Capitanes fell to 5-7. Andersson Garcia led Mexico City with a versatile performance. The teams meet again Wednesday in Mexico City.
