Westchester vs. Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm used a dominant second-quarter surge to overpower the Westchester Knicks 118-91 in a G League game Sunday at Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse.

The Swarm, improving to 8-4, broke open a close contest with a 37-point explosion in the second period, turning a narrow 19-18 lead after one quarter into a commanding 56-31 halftime advantage. The Knicks, who fell to 1-9, could not recover from the deficit despite a 35-point third quarter.

Greensboro’s offensive barrage in the second was fueled by balanced scoring and forced turnovers. The Swarm’s defense stifled Westchester, holding the visitors to just 13 points in the quarter on a series of missed shots and turnovers. Guard Terrell Brown was instrumental in the run, hitting multiple 3-pointers and facilitating the offense.

Westchester showed a brief spark after halftime, outscoring Greensboro 35-34 in the third quarter behind improved shooting. But the Swarm consistently answered every Knicks run, maintaining a lead that never dipped below 20 points in the final period. Greensboro’s depth was on full display as they closed out the game with a 28-point fourth quarter.

The most important segment of the game was undoubtedly Greensboro’s second-quarter takeover. After a tightly contested first period that featured seven lead changes and ended with the Swarm ahead by a single point, Greensboro seized control with a 22-4 run to start the second. The run included a technical foul assessed to Westchester’s Dink Pate and a successful coach’s challenge by the Knicks that still resulted in a turnover. During this stretch, the Knicks went scoreless for over four minutes while Greensboro’s Terrell Brown and Eric Dixon combined for 15 points. This decisive stretch transformed a competitive game into a lopsided affair, setting the tone for the remainder of the contest.

The Swarm’s victory followed a 112-106 win over the same Westchester team just two days prior on Friday. Greensboro next travels to face College Park on Friday. Westchester, mired in a losing streak, returns home to host Long Island on Wednesday.

The game was played before an announced crowd at the Fieldhouse. Interstat’s ELO system had projected Greensboro with a 75.80 percent probability to win.
