Greensboro vs. Capital City

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Greensboro Swarm used a dominant first half and a balanced offensive attack to secure a 124-106 victory over the Capital City Go-Go in a G League matchup on Sunday at CareFirst Arena.

The win improved Greensboro’s record to 6-4 across all competitions, while Capital City moved to an even 4-4.

Greensboro seized control of the game early, establishing a double-digit lead in the first quarter that they would not relinquish. The Swarm’s offense was efficient and consistent, scoring 37 points in the opening period and adding 31 in the second to take a commanding 68-52 lead into halftime. Capital City, despite a strong 30-point third quarter, could not significantly cut into the deficit as Greensboro answered with 32 points of their own. Both teams scored 24 in the final frame.

The Swarm’s effort was a collective one, with several players making key contributions. Tidjane Salaun, a 6-foot-8 power forward, provided a significant spark from the perimeter and was active on both ends of the floor. Drew Peterson, a 6-9 small forward, was a steadying presence, facilitating the offense and attacking the basket. In the paint, 6-10 center P.J. Hall anchored the interior, while point guard K.J. Simpson, listed at 6 feet, consistently pressured the defense and created scoring opportunities.

For the Go-Go, small forward Will Riley shouldered a heavy load offensively, leading his team’s scoring efforts. Jamir Watkins, a power forward from Trenton, New Jersey, and point guard Alondes Williams provided supplementary scoring, while center Skal Labissiere of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was a presence near the rim.

The game was a reversal of fortune from the teams’ previous meeting just two days prior, when Capital City edged Greensboro 109-107 in overtime.

The Swarm’s victory came despite being projected as underdogs by Interstat’s ELO system, which gave the Go-Go a 66.60 percent probability of winning on their home court.

Greensboro looks to continue its momentum with a two-game homestand against the Westchester Knicks starting Friday. Capital City begins a two-game road trip against Raptors 905 on Wednesday.
