Birmingham vs. Mexico City
MEXICO CITY (Interstat) — The Birmingham Squadron will look to avenge a lopsided loss when they face the Mexico City Capitanes again on Monday in a G League matchup at Estadio Azteca.
The Capitanes (2-3) dominated the Squadron (2-4) 120-97 on Sunday. James Bouknight led Mexico City with 27 points, while L.J. Figueroa added 19 points and six rebounds. Andersson Garcia controlled the paint with an 11-point, 12-rebound double-double.
Birmingham, which has lost three of its last four games, was paced in the loss by Christian Shumate’s 13-point, 11-rebound double-double and 13 points from Josh Oduro.
The back-to-back games offer the Squadron a quick opportunity for redemption after Sunday’s 23-point defeat. Both teams are seeking to climb above .500 in the early season.
Following Monday’s contest, the Capitanes begin a three-game road trip in Texas on Friday. Birmingham returns home for a four-game homestand beginning Dec. 3 against Memphis.
