Grand Rapids vs. Cleveland

CLEVELAND (Interstat) — In a high-octane G League shootout at the Wolstein Center on Saturday, the Cleveland Charge avenged a loss from the previous night by outlasting the Grand Rapids Gold 134-126.

The game was a tale of offensive efficiency overcoming sheer volume. While the visiting Gold dominated the glass and put up more shot attempts, the Charge capitalized on their possessions with superior ball security and shooting from distance to secure the victory and even their season record at 4-4. Grand Rapids fell to 6-2.

Cleveland set the tone early, erupting for 38 points in the first quarter to take a six-point lead. The Charge maintained their offensive pressure throughout, answering every Gold rally. A key differentiator was Cleveland’s ability to protect the ball, committing only eight turnovers compared to Grand Rapids’ 20. This led to a significant disparity in offensive efficiency, with Cleveland posting a rating of 130.1 points per 100 possessions against Grand Rapids’ 119.3.

The backcourt duo of Killian Hayes and Tristan Enaruna provided the offensive firepower for the Charge. Hayes, a 6-foot-5 point guard, orchestrated the offense with a game-high 31 points and eight assists. Enaruna, a 6-8 shooting guard, was equally formidable, adding 27 points and seven rebounds.

For Grand Rapids, center Moses Brown was a force in the paint, recording a double-double with 22 points and a massive 16 rebounds. The Gold’s backcourt also had a strong showing, with Curtis Jones scoring 28 points and Javante McCoy contributing 27.

Despite shooting nearly identical percentages from the field, Cleveland’s advantage from the three-point line and the free-throw line proved decisive. The Charge connected on 16 of 47 attempts from beyond the arc, while the Gold made 13 of 37. Cleveland also was more efficient at the charity stripe, making 17 of 21 attempts compared to Grand Rapids’ 10 of 14.

The game remained close into the final minutes, but clutch free throws from Norchad Omier and Miller Kopp in the last 10 seconds sealed the win for Cleveland. Omier finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Charge.

The two teams, who faced each other just 24 hours earlier with Grand Rapids winning 132-118, will not meet again in the regular season. The Charge next travel to face the Windy City Bulls on Friday, while the Gold are off until a road game against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Nov. 29.
