Osceola vs. Austin
LEANDER, Texas (Interstat) — The Osceola Magic used a dominant third-quarter surge to overcome a double-digit halftime deficit and defeat the Austin Spurs 110-102 in a G League matchup on Thursday night at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
In a game of dramatic momentum shifts, the Magic trailed 61-42 at halftime after the Spurs built a commanding lead with 30 points in the first quarter and 31 in the second. The second half, however, told a completely different story. Osceola erupted for 36 points in the third quarter while holding Austin to just 17, completely flipping the game on its head.
The turnaround was fueled by offensive efficiency. Osceola scored 110 points on just 99 possessions, an offensive rating of 111.0, while Austin managed 102 points on 104 possessions for a rating of 98.0. The Magic shot 48 percent from the floor compared to the Spurs’ 40 percent. Osceola also capitalized from beyond the arc, hitting 13 three-pointers to Austin’s 11, and were more effective from the free-throw line, making 14 of 17 attempts.
Lester Quinones led all scorers for Osceola, finishing with 24 points, including four three-pointers, to go along with four rebounds and a block. Reece Beekman provided a crucial spark off the bench, adding 18 points, while Noah Penda recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Will Baker also contributed 11 points and six rebounds in a reserve role.
For Austin, Jayden Nunn led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds. Riley Minix posted a strong all-around line with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, and Micah Potter added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Defensively, Osceola’s presence at the rim was a decisive factor, as they blocked 10 shots compared to Austin’s four. Orlando Robinson and Will Baker each had two blocks for the Magic.
The victory improved Osceola’s season record to 5-2 and served as redemption after a 134-120 loss to the same Austin team just one day prior. The Spurs, who entered the game with a perfect 5-0 record, suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 5-1.
The game began at a frantic pace, with Austin establishing an early lead behind hot shooting. The Spurs led 30-20 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 19 points by halftime. The Magic’s third-quarter explosion, outscoring Austin by 19 points, gave them a lead they would not relinquish, despite a late push from the Spurs in the final period.
Osceola’s next game is on the road against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Nov. 29. Austin will look to rebound at home against the same Rio Grande Valley team on Nov. 23.
