Texas vs. Osceola

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Interstat) — In a high-octane offensive showcase to open the G League season, the Osceola Magic overpowered the Texas Legends 134-113 on Friday night at Silver Spurs Arena.

The Magic set a blistering pace from the opening tip, erupting for 39 points in the first quarter and adding 38 more in the second to build a commanding 77-56 halftime lead. The Legends, while scoring a respectable 56 points in the first half themselves, could not keep pace with Osceola’s efficient and explosive attack.

Osceola’s offensive execution was nearly flawless, scoring 134 points on 108 possessions for an elite offensive rating of 123.9. Texas, despite putting up 113 points, managed an offensive rating of just 104.9 on the same number of possessions, highlighting the stark difference in efficiency. The Magic shot 52 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Legends 50-39, controlling the paint and the glass throughout the contest.

The game’s tone was established early. After a block by Texas’ 7-foot-5 center Jamarion Sharp on Osceola’s Colin Castleton, the Magic quickly found their rhythm. Lester Quinones and Jamal Cain hit consecutive three-pointers, and a relentless Castleton put back his own miss for a dunk, signaling a dominant night for the Osceola big man.

Texas guard Miles Kelly kept his team within striking distance in the first quarter, scoring 11 points, but every Legends run was answered immediately. The Magic closed the first quarter on a 12-5 burst, capped by a Alex Morales three-pointer at the buzzer, to take a 39-30 lead.

The second quarter saw Osceola extend its lead, with the margin ballooning to 21 points after a Justin Minaya steal and dunk made it 57-36. The Legends’ offense, led by Dalano Banton and Sheldon Edwards, found moments of success, but could not string together enough stops to cut significantly into the deficit.

Castleton was the engine for Osceola, finishing with a powerful double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds. Quinones provided a potent scoring punch with 25 points, while Morales stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Jamal Cain added 18 points and seven rebounds, and Minaya contributed 12 points and six rebounds off the bench.

For Texas, Kelly led all scorers with 26 points, adding six rebounds and four assists. Banton orchestrated the offense with 18 points and eight assists. Sharp was a defensive presence with 10 points, eight rebounds and five blocks, and Edwards provided a spark off the bench with 16 points.

The Legends managed to win the third quarter 30-25, narrowing the gap to 102-86, but the Magic slammed the door in the fourth, outscoring Texas 32-27 to secure the decisive victory.

The loss drops Texas to 0-1 to start the season, while Osceola begins its campaign 1-0. The two teams are scheduled for a quick rematch at Silver Spurs Arena on Saturday night. According to Interstat’s ELO system, Osceola was the heavy favorite with a 93.80 percent probability to win, a projection they lived up to with a commanding performance.

Texas will continue its road trip with a game in Memphis on Nov. 11, while Osceola will host Mexico City on Nov. 13.
