Sioux Falls vs. Motor City
WALKER, Mich. (Interstat) — The Motor City Cruise opened their season with a dominant offensive performance, overwhelming the Sioux Falls Skyforce 137-114 in a G League matchup Friday night at DeltaPlex Arena.
The Cruise seized control of the game with a massive second quarter, outscoring the Skyforce 44-40 to take a commanding 76-68 lead into halftime. That momentum carried through the second half as Motor City maintained a double-digit advantage, outscoring Sioux Falls in every quarter en route to the decisive 23-point victory.
The win gives the Cruise a 1-0 start to their campaign, while the Skyforce begin the season 0-1. The two teams are set for a quick rematch, scheduled to face off again Saturday night in the same venue.
From the opening tip, the Cruise’s offensive firepower was on full display. Their ball movement and scoring balance proved too much for the Skyforce defense to contain, allowing Motor City to build and sustain a large lead throughout the contest.
Sioux Falls, despite the lopsided final score, had moments of offensive production, particularly in the first half. However, they were unable to string together enough defensive stops to mount a serious challenge to the Cruise’s lead after the break.
The game’s statistical probability system, Interstat’s ELO, had projected the Cruise as strong favorites with a 64.30 percent chance to win, a forecast that held true with their performance on the court.
Looking ahead, the Skyforce continue a road-heavy start to their schedule. After the rematch with Motor City, they will play seven of their next nine games away from home, including a two-game homestand against Noblesville on Nov. 12 and 14 before hitting the road again.
The Cruise, after hosting Sioux Falls again and a home game against Cleveland on Nov. 12, will embark on a three-game road trip, visiting Grand Rapids for a pair of games and then Noblesville.
