Lecce vs Genoa

LECCE, Italy (Interstat) — Lecce hosts Genoa on Sunday, May 24, in a Serie A matchup that carries no major trophy implications but offers both sides a chance to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.

Kickoff is at 8:45 p.m. local time at Stadio Via del Mare.

Genoa enters the contest after a 2-1 loss to AC Milan on May 17. The result extended a mixed stretch for the visitors, who have alternated draws and losses over their past five matches. A scoreless draw at Fiorentina on May 10 preceded the Milan defeat, and prior to that, Genoa drew 0-0 at Atalanta on May 2. The team’s last victory came on April 19, a 2-1 win against Pisa.

Forward Roberto Piccoli is a player to watch for Genoa. In the most recent match at Fiorentina, he came off the bench before being substituted out, but his energy and hold-up play remain key assets for a side that has struggled to score consistently. Genoa has managed just three goals in its last six outings.

Lecce, meanwhile, is coming off a 3-2 victory at Sassuolo on May 17, snapping a three-match winless run. Prior to that, Lecce lost 1-0 to Juventus on May 9 and had a 2-1 win over Pisa on May 1. The home side has been unpredictable, posting three wins, three losses and a draw over its past seven matches.

The two teams played to a 0-0 draw on Aug. 23, 2025, in Genoa. That result continued a trend of tight, low-scoring affairs between the sides.

Lecce will look to exploit home advantage at Via del Mare, where it has been competitive but inconsistent this season. Genoa’s away form has been uneven, with the team earning just one win in its last six road matches.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw.

Kickoff weather is expected to be mild, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius and partly cloudy skies.

Lecce manager Marco Giampaolo declined to comment on potential lineup changes but confirmed all players are fit. Genoa manager Alberto Gilardino said Piccoli will likely start after recovering from minor fatigue.

Sunday’s match will be the 42nd meeting between the clubs in all competitions. Lecce leads the all-time series 16-13 with 12 draws.
