SUMQAYIT, Azerbaijan (Interstat) — Alexandre Ramalingom opened the scoring for Genclerbirliyi Sumqayıt in first-half stoppage time, netting in the 45+2 minute. Ba-Muaka Simakala doubled the lead in the 62nd minute. Rahil Məmmədov pulled one back for Araz-Naxçıvan PFK in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, but the visitors could not find an equalizer.

The victory moved Genclerbirliyi Sumqayıt to 9-11-4 in the Premyer Liqa and 11-11-4 across all competitions. Araz-Naxçıvan PFK fell to 7-10-4 in league play, identical to its overall record.

Saturday’s match at Mehdi Hüseynzadə Adına Sumqayıt Şəhər Stadionu was the second meeting between the sides this season. Genclerbirliyi Sumqayıt had won the previous encounter 3-2 on Nov. 2, 2025, while Araz-Naxçıvan PFK won 1-0 on Feb. 15, 2026.
