Viborg vs Nordsjaelland
VIBORG, Denmark (Interstat) — Srđan Kuzmić’s first-half goal lifted Viborg to a 1-0 victory over Nordsjaelland on Sunday in a Danish Superliga match at Energi Viborg Arena.
Kuzmić scored in the 10th minute, collecting an assist from midfielder Jeppe Grønning, to give the home side an early lead. Viborg held that advantage the rest of the way despite a flurry of yellow cards that saw four players booked.
Nordsjaelland’s Peter Ankersen was cautioned in the 37th minute, followed by Grønning two minutes later. Viborg’s Ibrahim Adel received a yellow card in the 66th minute, and Kuzmić was booked in the 75th.
The result lifted Viborg’s Superliga record to 10-10-1, while Nordsjaelland fell to 11-11-1. Across all competitions this season, Viborg improved to 14-11-2 and Nordsjaelland dropped to 17-14-3.
The match marked a reversal of recent head-to-head form. Nordsjaelland had won the two most previous meetings, both in 2025 – a 1-0 victory Aug. 25 and a 2-1 win April 19. Sunday’s win gave Viborg a measure of revenge on home turf.
Nordsjaelland entered the game having posted a 1-1 draw with ASA Aarhus on Thursday, and before that a 2-1 win over Viborg on April 19. Viborg came in after a 1-0 loss to Brondby on Wednesday.
The victory was crucial for Viborg as they continue to jostle for position in the Superliga standings. The defensive effort limited Nordsjaelland’s chances, and goalkeeper support kept the clean sheet intact through a tense second half.
Nordsjaelland’s next scheduled fixture is at home against Viborg on May 31. Viborg’s schedule includes a match against Suduva later Sunday and then the return leg against Nordsjaelland on May 31.
The game’s lone goal came early when Grønning slipped a pass to Kuzmić, who finished past the Nordsjaelland goalkeeper. The visitors struggled to generate quality scoring opportunities, their best chances coming from range but failing to test the Viborg defense significantly.
The match was played under clear skies on the artificial surface at Energi Viborg Arena, with a modest crowd in attendance.
Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw for the match, while Interstat’s ELO system gave Viborg a 62.50 percent probability to win.
