MANAMA, Bahrain (Interstat) — Muharraq defeated Al Najma 3-1 on Monday at Madinat ’Isa Stadium in a Bahrain Premier League match. Soufiane Mahrouk opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a right-footed goal. Zachary Hadji doubled the lead in the 58th minute, also with a right-footed strike. Husain Abdulkarim made it 3-0 in the 76th minute before Al Najma’s Elliot Simões pulled one back from a corner kick in the 85th minute.

Muharraq improved to 13-4-4 in league play and 15-5-4 across all competitions. Al Najma fell to 6-9-2 in the league and 6-9-2 overall. The victory extended Muharraq’s winning streak to two matches following a 1-0 win over Budaiya on April 29.

Al Najma entered on a two-game losing streak after defeats to Malkiya and Budaiya. The match was the second-to-last league contest of the season for both sides. Muharraq next faces Busaiteen in the Federation Cup on May 8.
