Al Najma vs Muharraq

MANAMA, Bahrain (Interstat) — Al Najma hosts Muharraq on Monday, May 4, in a Bahrain Premier League match at a venue to be announced, with both sides looking to build on contrasting recent form.

Muharraq enters the fixture on a two-match winning streak, most recently defeating Budaiya 1-0 at home on April 29. The victory followed a 1-0 win at Al Hidd on April 16. However, the team has been inconsistent this season, with a 2-1 loss at Al Ahli Club on April 11 and a 3-0 win over Sitra on April 3. Overall, Muharraq has posted seven wins, two losses and one draw in its last 10 league matches, including a 7-0 rout of Bahrain SC on Feb. 20 and a 6-0 shutout of Isa Town on Feb. 2. The club’s offense has been potent, scoring at least three goals in four of those games, while the defense has kept five clean sheets.

Al Najma has struggled recently, losing its last two outings. The team fell 3-0 at Malkiya on April 28 after a 2-1 loss at home to Budaiya on April 16. Al Najma’s only win in its last five matches was a 1-0 victory over Al Hidd on March 13. The club has alternated between narrow defeats and occasional draws, with a 1-1 tie against Al Shabab on April 2. In its last 10 league games, Al Najma has three wins, five losses and two draws, with the offense averaging just under one goal per match. The defense has allowed two or more goals in four of those contests.

Monday’s matchup is part of the Bahrain Premier League season. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 win for Muharraq. Muharraq’s next match is at Busaiteen on May 8 in the Federation Cup.
