RUANGWA, Tanzania (Interstat) — Namungo and Mashujaa FC played to a 0-0 draw Friday at Majaliwa Stadium in the Ligi kuu Bara opener for both sides.

Neither team could break through in a tightly contested match that saw three yellow cards. Samwel Onditi was booked in the 43rd minute, Hamisi Swalehe in the 62nd and Jacob Masawe in the 89th. All three players recorded one assist each, though no goals resulted from their efforts.

The draw left both clubs with identical records of zero wins, zero losses and one draw in the competition and across all competitions.

Interstat’s pregame simulation had projected a 1-1 final, while the ELO system gave Namungo a 61.00 percent probability to win, but the actual result saw neither side find the net.

Mashujaa FC, playing on the road, maintained defensive discipline throughout. Namungo similarly could not convert its chances. The point each marks the start of the season for both teams in Tanzania’s top-flight league.
