Auxerre vs Angers

AUXERRE, France (Interstat) — Auxerre hosts Angers on Sunday in a Ligue 1 matchup with significant implications for both clubs’ positions in the standings.

The teams meet at Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps on May 3, 2026, with Auxerre seeking to build on a dominant road victory and Angers aiming to halt a troubling stretch of form.

Auxerre enters on the strength of a 4-1 win at Lille on April 26. That result snapped a three-match winless run in league play for Auxerre. Prior to that, the club played to a 2-2 draw at Monaco on April 19 and lost 1-0 at home to Marseille on March 13. Their recent record shows inconsistency: a 3-0 win over Brest on March 21, a 0-0 draw with Strasbourg on March 7, and a 2-0 loss to Dijon on March 28. Auxerre also drew 2-2 with lower-division Moulins Yzeure Foot in a cup match April 25 but won 5-0 against UNFP on April 4.

Angers has lost six of its past nine matches. The club played to a 0-0 draw at home against Nantes on April 26, following a 1-1 draw at Le Havre on April 18. A 5-1 loss at Lens on March 20 was its most lopsided defeat of the season. Angers also lost 2-0 to Nice on March 14 but beat Nantes 1-0 on March 7. Other recent results include defeats to Monaco (2-0, Feb. 28), Lille (1-0, Feb. 22) and Lorient (2-0, Feb. 15), along with wins over Toulouse (1-0, Feb. 8) and Metz (1-0, Feb. 1).

The most recent head-to-head meeting favors Angers. The visitors earned a 2-0 home victory Nov. 9, 2025. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Both teams have three matches remaining after this weekend. Angers travels to Strasbourg on May 10 and visits Brest on May 17. Auxerre hosts Nice on May 10 before traveling to Lille on May 17.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.
