BRUGGE, Belgium (Interstat) — Club Brugge opened its Belgian First Division A season with a 2-1 victory at Sint-Truiden on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead in the 22nd minute at Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium with a goal from forward Ryōtarō Itō. Substitute Hugo Vetlesen doubled the advantage for Club Brugge just before halftime in the 48th minute, also recording an assist.

Sint-Truiden found a late consolation goal from substitute Christos Tzolis in second-half stoppage time, but could not complete the comeback. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, which had simulated a 2-2 draw. Club Brugge began its league campaign with a win while Sint-Truiden started with a loss.
