VfL Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig W

WOLFSBURG, Germany (Interstat) — VfL Wolfsburg erased an early deficit and scored three times in the second half to defeat RB Leipzig W 3-2 on Saturday at AOK Stadion in a Frauen Bundesliga match.

RB Leipzig struck first in the ninth minute when Gina-Maria Chmielinski found the net. Wolfsburg responded with an equalizer in the 58th minute from Janina Minge. Lena Lattwein put Wolfsburg ahead in the 66th minute and doubled the lead in the 84th minute, finishing her second goal of the match. Chmielinski scored again for RB Leipzig in the first minute of second-half stoppage time, but Wolfsburg held on for the victory.

Substitute Marlene Müller recorded an assist for Wolfsburg. Two yellow cards were issued: Müller was cautioned in the 70th minute, and RB Leipzig’s Sarai Linder received a yellow card in the 85th minute.

Wolfsburg improved to 16 wins, four losses and five draws in league play. RB Leipzig dropped to seven wins, 11 losses and six draws. Across all competitions this season, Wolfsburg holds a 20-7-6 record and RB Leipzig is 7-11-6.

The result continued a strong late-season push for Wolfsburg, which had dropped a 3-1 decision at Eintracht Frankfurt on April 26 and played to a scoreless draw at Werder Bremen on April 22. RB Leipzig entered the match following a 1-1 home draw against Werder Bremen on April 25, part of a run that included draws in four of its previous five league games. That stretch followed a 3-0 loss at Bayern Munich on Jan. 25 and a 5-0 defeat at Union Berlin on Oct. 19, 2025.

Saturday’s victory also avenged Wolfsburg’s 3-1 loss at RB Leipzig on Nov. 23, 2025, in the teams’ only other meeting this season. Wolfsburg had outscored RB Leipzig by a combined 4-2 in the two matches.

Wolfsburg, which has faced a demanding schedule that included Champions League matches against Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United, will travel to Freiburg on May 9 before hosting Nurnberg on May 17. RB Leipzig will host Bayer Leverkusen on May 11 and visit Hoffenheim on May 17.

Interstat’s game simulator projected a final score of Wolfsburg 2, RB Leipzig 1, and its ELO system gave Wolfsburg a 59.80 percent probability to win.
