VfL Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig W

WOLFSBURG, Germany (Interstat) — VfL Wolfsburg hosts RB Leipzig W on Saturday in a Frauen Bundesliga match that carries significant implications for both sides as the season enters its final stretch.

Wolfsburg enters the 2 p.m. local time kickoff looking to rebound from a 3-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt on April 26. That defeat snapped a four-match unbeaten run for the home side, which had drawn with Werder Bremen 0-0 on April 22 and played Union Berlin to a 3-3 tie on March 29.

Leipzig, meanwhile, arrives after a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen on April 25. That result continued a pattern of inconsistency for the visitors, who have alternated between draws, wins and losses throughout the spring campaign.

The teams met most recently Nov. 23, when Wolfsburg claimed a 3-1 victory in Leipzig.

Leipzig’s season has featured flashes of strong play mixed with struggles against the league’s top sides. The team managed a 2-0 win at Freiburg on March 22 and a 3-1 victory at Hamburger SV on Feb. 8, but suffered a 3-0 defeat at Bayern Munich on Jan. 25. Leipzig has shown resilience in earning draws against Union Berlin (2-2 on March 14) and Eintracht Frankfurt (2-2 on Feb. 1), but has lost its last two meetings with Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg’s campaign includes notable results such as a 1-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais on March 24 in European competition, demonstrating the team’s ability to compete at a high level. However, domestic results have been uneven, including a 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich on Feb. 22 and a 2-2 draw with Juventus in European play on Feb. 12. The home side has posted wins against Bayer Leverkusen (2-1 on March 15) and Hoffenheim (1-0 on March 21).

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 2-1 victory for Wolfsburg.

Following Saturday’s match, Leipzig travels to Bayer Leverkusen on May 11 before visiting Hoffenheim on May 17. Wolfsburg visits Freiburg on May 9 and hosts Nurnberg on May 17 to close the regular season.
