Sweden vs Tunisia
STOCKHOLM (Interstat) — Sweden opens its World Cup campaign Sunday against a Tunisia side searching for offensive form, with the Interstat game simulator projecting a 1-1 draw.
The match at Friends Arena on Sunday, June 14, 2026, pits a Sweden squad seeking consistency against a Tunisia team that has struggled to score in recent outings. Both nations face critical group-stage matches ahead, making a positive result essential.
Tunisia enters on a two-match losing streak, most recently falling 2-0 at Equatorial Guinea on Feb. 8. The Carthage Eagles managed just one goal in their last four contests, a 1-1 draw at Ajaccio on Jan. 3. Prior to that, they posted a 3-0 home win against Namibia on Oct. 13, 2025, and two scoreless draws. Defensively, Tunisia has been solid, recording four clean sheets in their last seven matches, but the attack has managed only six goals over that span.
Sweden’s form has been erratic. The Blågult lost 1-0 at home to Finland on April 22, their most recent result. That followed a promising 3-1 win at Ukraine on March 26. However, Sweden’s earlier results included heavy defeats: 4-1 at Switzerland on Nov. 15, 2025, and a 2-0 loss at home to Switzerland on Oct. 10. They also dropped matches to Kosovo twice (1-0 and 2-0) and managed only two wins in their last eight outings overall.
The Interstat simulator’s projection suggests a tightly contested match, with both sides capable of defensive organization but lacking consistent finishing.
Sunday’s game is the opening fixture for both teams in a group that also includes Japan and the Netherlands. Tunisia faces Japan on June 21 and the Netherlands on June 25. Sweden meets the Netherlands on June 20 before facing Japan on June 25.
For Tunisia, a draw would be a solid result given their recent offensive struggles. For Sweden, playing at home, anything less than three points could put pressure on their path to the knockout stage.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.
