ELBASAN, Albania (Interstat) — KF Tirana opened its Albanian First Division campaign with a 3-1 victory over AF Elbasani on Sunday, May 10, at Elbasan Arena. Patrik Myslovič scored in the seventh minute to give the visitors an early lead. Rimal Haxhiu doubled the advantage in the 50th minute. AF Elbasani responded with a goal of its own, but Arsen Kasa added a third for KF Tirana in first-half stoppage time. The win improved KF Tirana’s record to 1-0 in both the competition and overall, while AF Elbasani fell to 0-1 in both standings. KF Tirana’s three goals came from open play as the away side controlled much of the match. The result was a surprise after pre-match models had favored the home team, which was projected to win by a wide margin. The match marked the start of the season for both clubs.
