Preview: Van Hosts Urartu in Armenian Premier League Clash

YEREVAN, Armenia (Interstat) — Van will seek to reverse a dominant recent trend against visiting Urartu when the Armenian Premier League sides meet Friday.

The match at Van’s home venue is scheduled for April 10, 2026.

Urartu has controlled the recent series, winning the last two meetings by a combined 6-0 scoreline. That includes a 4-0 victory at home last Oct. 28 and a 2-0 win in Van last Aug. 15.

Form, however, enters on different trajectories. Van arrives with momentum from a 2-1 road victory over Ararat on April 4. Urartu, meanwhile, is looking to rebound from a 2-0 loss at Ararat-Armenia on April 8, which extended a winless streak in all competitions to three matches.

Urartu’s recent league results have been inconsistent, with a loss to BKMA and a draw with Gandzasar preceding the defeat to Ararat-Armenia. Van’s form has been mixed, with a heavy loss to Ararat-Armenia in March but also strong offensive showings in wins over BKMA and Noah.

A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a 1-1 draw.

The match is the first of three scheduled meetings between the clubs in a short span. They are set to face each other again in the league on May 3, with a First League fixture also scheduled for April 26.

Following Friday’s game, Urartu will turn its focus to an Armenian Cup semifinal first leg against FC Andranik on April 15. Van’s next league assignment is at Noah on April 20.
