Preview: AS Monaco FC Hosts Auxerre in Ligue 1 Clash

PARIS (Interstat) — A surging AS Monaco FC side will look to continue its push near the top of the Ligue 1 table when it hosts a struggling Auxerre team at the Stade Louis II on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

The Principality club enters the weekend fixture in strong form, having won five of its last six matches. Its most recent result was a statement 2-1 victory over rival Marseille on April 5. That win followed triumphs against Lyon, Brest and a dominant 3-1 away win at Paris Saint-Germain in early March. Monaco’s attack has been potent during this run, scoring multiple goals in each of those victories.

In contrast, Auxerre arrives on the Mediterranean coast mired in inconsistency. Its form has been a stark mix of results, including a concerning 1-0 defeat to lower-tier FC Chamalieres in a cup match on April 11. While AJA recorded a 5-0 league win over UNFP on April 4, it has managed just one other victory in its last seven matches across all competitions. The team has struggled to score lately, failing to find the net in three of its last five outings.

The statistical projection service Interstat forecasts a tightly contested draw, simulating a final score of 1-1. This suggests a potential resilience from the visitors despite their recent troubles.

Historically, matches between these sides have often been competitive. This encounter carries significant weight for both clubs’ season objectives. For Monaco, every point is crucial in a tight race for European qualification. For Auxerre, currently hovering closer to the relegation zone, points are vital for survival in France’s top flight.

The matchup will feature a contrast in momentum. Monaco will rely on its high-scoring offense to impose its will at home. Auxerre will need to rediscover its defensive solidity and hope its attack can capitalize on limited chances against a confident opponent.

Following this match, Monaco will face a trip to FC Metz on May 2. Auxerre’s next assignment is a home fixture against Angers on May 3.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) in Monaco.
