Bologna Opens Serie A Season With Victory Over Lecce

BOLOGNA, Italy (Interstat) — Bologna opened its Serie A campaign with a 2-0 victory over Lecce on Sunday at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Midfielder Remo Freuler gave the hosts the lead in the 26th minute. Substitute Riccardo Orsolini sealed the win in second-half stoppage time, scoring in the 92nd minute off an assist from fellow substitute Jamil Siebert. Oumar Ngom also recorded an assist for Bologna’s first goal.

The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, whose simulator had forecast a 1-1 draw. Bologna, which began its season with a win across all competitions, was favored with an 87.2% win probability by the same service’s ELO system. Lecce opens its season with a loss in both Serie A and overall.
