MODENA, Italy (Interstat) — Francesco Zampano scored and assisted to lead Modena to a 2-1 victory over Reggiana in Serie B action Friday at Stadio Alberto Braglia.

Ambrosino was sent off in the 69th minute with a red card, reducing Modena to 10 men for the final 21 minutes plus stoppage time, but the hosts held on.
The win improved Modena’s record in Serie B to 13 wins, 8 losses and 6 draws. Overall this season across all competitions, Modena stands at 13 wins, 10 losses and 7 draws. Reggiana dropped to 8 wins, 14 losses and 8 draws in league play and 8 wins, 15 losses and 9 draws overall.

Simone Bonetti received a yellow in the 35th, Luca Belardinelli in the 56th, Ambrosino in the 57th, Simone Santoro in the 76th and Manolo Portanova in the 85th. Modena opened the scoring when Zampano collected a pass from Santoro and fired from close range. The goal stood after a brief check for offside. Ambrosino made it 2-0 with a clinical finish in the 56th minute, assisted by Zampano after a swift counterattack. Reggiana responded quickly. Vicari pulled one back in the 65th, finishing off a buildup that involved Bonetti and Belardinelli.
Ambrosino received his second yellow card of the match four minutes later for a reckless challenge, leaving Modena with 10 men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Modena defended resolutely. Reggiana pushed forward but could not break through. Modena goalkeeper made key saves in the closing stages to preserve the lead.
The result was a measure of revenge for Modena, which lost 1-0 at Reggiana on Oct. 28, 2025, in the previous head-to-head meeting. That result was part of a stretch in which Reggiana had won three of the last five meetings between the sides, but Modena improved to 2-3 in that span.
Modena entered the contest after a 1-0 loss at AC Monza on Apr. 24 and had gone 1-2-2 in its previous five league matches. Reggiana came in off a 1-1 draw at home against Palermo on Apr. 25 and had won only one of its prior five league games, a 2-0 victory at Carrarese on Apr. 12.
The victory moved Modena up in the Serie B standings. Reggiana remained in the lower half. Friday’s win kept Modena in contention for playoff positions. The match was played in front of an announced crowd at the 21,000-seat Stadio Alberto Braglia.
