Carrarese vs Cesena

CARRARA, Italy (Interstat) — Carrarese and Cesena played to a scoreless draw Friday in a Serie B match at Stadio dei Marmi, a result that did little to change either team’s position in the standings.

The game marked the first time this season the two sides met. Despite a series of half-chances for both clubs, neither could find the back of the net. Carrarese goalkeeper made several routine saves, while Cesena’s defense held firm against the hosts’ pressure.

The first half produced few clear opportunities. Cesena midfielder Gabriele Parlanti received a yellow card in the 24th minute for a foul in midfield. The visitors struggled to maintain possession in the attacking third, a pattern that continued after halftime.

Carrarese forward Fabio Abiuso was cautioned in the 55th minute for a late tackle. Moments later, Nicolò Calabrese, a midfielder for the home side, saw yellow in the 72nd minute for a challenge near the Cesena box.

Key individual performances were recorded despite the lack of goals. Midfielders Nicolò Calabrese and Gabriele Parlanti each had an assist, as did forward Fabio Abiuso, though no shot from those passes resulted in a score.

Cesena entered the match with a Serie B record of three wins, 11 losses and six draws. Across all competitions, the Cesena mark stood at three wins, 12 losses and seven draws. The team had lost three of its previous four league matches, including a 1-0 defeat at home to Sampdoria on April 25 and a 2-0 loss at Palermo on April 18. Cesena’s most recent victory in Serie B came March 21 against Catanzaro.

Carrarese came in with a Serie B record of nine wins, 11 losses and eight draws. Its overall record was nine wins, 13 losses and eight draws. The hosts had lost two of their last three league games, most recently a 3-0 defeat at Frosinone on April 25. Carrarese’s last win in Serie B was a 3-0 result at Bari on March 22.

The draw leaves Carrarese in the middle of the Serie B table, while Cesena remained near the bottom. Carrarese next faces Virtus Entella on the road Friday, May 8.

Interstat’s game simulator had projected a final score of Carrarese 1, Cesena 1, and its ELO system gave Carrarese a 67.30 percent probability to win.
