CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA, Italy (Interstat) — Defenders Marco Varnier and Lorenzo Carissoni scored second-half goals to power Juve Stabia to a 2-0 win over Cesena in a Serie B match Saturday at Stadio Comunale Romeo Menti.

Varnier opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Carissoni added insurance 11 minutes later. Simone Bastoni and Omar Correia provided assists for the hosts, who improved their league record to 9-8-8. Cesena, which has won just three times in 17 league matches this season, was shut out and saw its record fall to 3-9-5.

The result defied a pregame projection that favored the visitors. Three yellow cards were issued in a physical contest, all after the 38th minute. Juve Stabia next hosts Catanzaro on April 18, while Cesena travels to face Palermo the same day.
