Como vs Pisa

COMO, Italy (Interstat) — In a stunning opening-day display that defied pregame projections, Como delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Pisa in a Serie A match Sunday at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

The result stood in stark contrast to statistical forecasts. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a low-scoring 1-1 draw, while its ELO system gave Como a 99.10 percent probability to win, though not by such a decisive margin. The home side exceeded both metrics with a relentless offensive performance.

Como’s dominance was established almost immediately. Forward Assane Diao opened the scoring in the seventh minute, setting the tone for the match. The floodgates remained open as forward Anastasios Douvikas doubled the lead in the 29th minute. Midfielder Martin Baturina added a third just before halftime, finding the net in the 48th minute to give Como a 3-0 advantage at the break.

The second half continued in the same vein. Midfielder Nicolás Paz extended the lead to 4-0 in the 75th minute. The scoring was capped by midfielder Máximo Perrone, who netted Como’s fifth goal in the 81st minute.

Douvikas led the individual efforts with two goals. Diao, Baturina, Paz and Perrone each contributed a goal. Key creative contributions came from the substitutes’ bench, with Simone Canestrelli and Samuele Angori each registering two assists after their introductions.

Pisa, the visiting side, offered little in response and failed to find a way past the Como defense. The team’s frustration was evident as both of Como’s impactful substitutes, Canestrelli and Angori, also received yellow cards in the 35th and 51st minutes, respectively.

The comprehensive victory gives Como an ideal start to its Serie A campaign, beginning the season with one win and no losses. Pisa, conversely, starts with no wins and one loss. Both teams see their overall records across all competitions mirror those league standings following this fixture.

The match was played under the organization of Serie A, Italy’s top football division. The lopsided result immediately alters the early narrative for both clubs as the 2025-2026 season gets underway.
