ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Besiktas opened its Süper Lig season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Goztepe on Sunday at Tüpraş Stadyumu.

The hosts controlled play from the start, with midfielder Wilfred Ndidi opening the scoring in the ninth minute. He later added an assist. Defender Michael Amir Murillo doubled the lead in the 36th minute before second-half goals from midfielder Junior Olaïtan (59th) and forward Oh Hyeongyu (74th) sealed the rout.

Goztepe, which managed no goals, saw its season begin with a loss. The result exceeded statistical projections, which had favored Besiktas with a 63 percent win probability and a 2-0 forecast. Ndidi, Murillo and Olaïtan received yellow cards during the match.
