Besiktas vs Goztepe
ISTANBUL (Interstat) — Besiktas looks to continue its climb up the Süper Lig table and avenge a lopsided early-season defeat when it hosts Göztepe at Vodafone Park on Sunday.
The Black Eagles (12-8-6) enter the match with momentum, coming off a dramatic 3-2 road victory over Rams Başakşehir FK on Feb. 15. That win extended their unbeaten run to five matches (3-0-2) as they solidify their position in the league’s European qualification places.
Göztepe (10-9-7), however, has proven a tricky opponent. In the teams’ last meeting on Sept. 19, 2025, Göztepe delivered a stunning 3-0 home victory over Besiktas. That result is part of a strong recent stretch for the visitors, who are unbeaten in their last three outings (1-0-2), including a 0-0 draw with Kayserispor last Sunday.
Form, however, favors the hosts. Besiktas has lost just once in its last 10 league matches. Key to their success has been a potent attack, scoring multiple goals in seven of those contests, led by a resurgent midfield.
Göztepe’s form has been more inconsistent, with a record of 4-3-3 over its last 10. Their defense has been stout lately, posting consecutive clean sheets, but they have struggled for goals on the road, failing to score in their last two away fixtures.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Besiktas is projected to secure a 2-0 victory, a prediction that underscores the team’s current defensive solidity and home-field advantage.
The match carries significant weight for the league standings. A win for Besiktas would apply pressure on the clubs above them, while Göztepe seeks to close the gap and disrupt the race for continental spots.
Following this contest, Besiktas faces a critical derby against Galatasaray on March 7, preceded by a trip to Kocaelispor on Feb. 28. Göztepe will host Eyüpspor on Feb. 28 before traveling to face Başakşehir on March 7.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, in Istanbul.
