Late Equalizer Secures Draw in Ligue 2 Season Opener
NANCY, France (Interstat) — Nancy and Saint-Etienne II opened their Ligue 2 campaigns with a 1-1 draw Saturday at Stade Marcel Picot.
Zakaria Fdaouch gave the visiting reserves an early lead in the sixth minute. Nancy pressed for an equalizer and found it deep in stoppage time when substitute Lucas Stassin scored in the seventh added minute. Julien Le Cardinal assisted Saint-Etienne II’s goal, while Jérémy Gelin and Ebenezer Annan registered assists for Nancy.
The result left both clubs with identical records of one draw and no wins across all competitions this season. Interstat’s projection system had favored Nancy with a 63.3 percent chance to win, accurately predicting the final score.
