Preview: Nancy Hosts Saint-Etienne II in Ligue 2 Clash

NANCY, France (Interstat) — A crucial mid-table Ligue 2 fixture is set for Saturday as AS Nancy Lorraine hosts the reserve side of AS Saint-Etienne at Stade Marcel Picot.

The match pits a Nancy side seeking consistency against a Saint-Etienne II team looking to rebound from a disappointing defeat.

Nancy (10th place projection) enters with momentum from a solid defensive performance, securing a 0-0 draw on the road against Boulogne on March 20. However, their form has been uneven, with just one win in their last five league outings. Their attack has struggled at times, being shut out in three of those five matches.

Saint-Etienne II (12th place projection) arrives following a jarring 3-1 home loss to USM Saran on March 28. That result snapped a brief positive run that included a 4-0 victory over FC Annecy. The visitors’ season has been a rollercoaster, with recent results showing both explosive offense and concerning defensive lapses.

The head-to-head history favors the visitors. In their last meeting on Nov. 22, 2025, Saint-Etienne II secured a 2-1 home victory over Nancy.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw, highlighting the perceived parity between the sides.

For Nancy, the focus will be on converting defensive stability into three points at home. Manager Pablo Correa will likely emphasize unlocking an attack that has scored more than once only once since late January.

Saint-Etienne II manager Laurent Huard must rally his young squad after the Saran defeat. The team has demonstrated a high ceiling, as seen in the Annecy win, but consistency has eluded them.

The outcome could hinge on which version of each team appears. Will Nancy find the finishing touch, or will Saint-Etienne II’s talented youth shake off their recent setback?

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time (1900 GMT) on April 4, 2026.

Upcoming Fixtures: Nancy travels to face Clermont on April 10. Saint-Etienne II continues its campaign at home against Dunkerque U19 on April 11.
