Late Goal Lifts Lille Over Nantes in Ligue 1 Opener

VILLENEUVE-D’ASCQ, France (Interstat) — Defender Nathan Ngoy scored in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time Sunday to give Lille a 1-0 victory over Nantes in a Ligue 1 match at Decathlon Arena - Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The dramatic winner came against the run of the final projections, as Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a 1-1 draw. Lille, however, entered as a strong favorite with a 74.4% win probability according to the same service’s ELO system.

Ngoy’s goal, assisted by substitute Mohamed Kaba, decided a physical contest that featured four yellow cards. The result gives Lille a winning start to its domestic campaign, while Nantes begins the season with a loss.
