Cagliari vs Lazio

ROME (Interstat) — Lazio looks to rebound from a derby defeat when it visits a struggling Cagliari side in Serie A on Saturday.

The match at Sardegna Arena is scheduled for a 3 p.m. CET (1400 GMT) kickoff.

Lazio (10-8-6) enters the contest after a 2-0 home loss to Atalanta on Feb. 14, which snapped a modest three-match unbeaten run in the league. Manager Maurizio Sarri’s squad has been inconsistent in 2026, with its form reading a mixed bag: a win over Genoa, draws with Juventus and Fiorentina, and losses to Atalanta and Napoli.

Cagliari (7-5-12), managed by Claudio Ranieri, is mired in a more concerning slump. The Islanders have lost three consecutive league matches without scoring, including a 2-0 defeat to Lecce on Monday. Their last victory was a stunning 1-0 upset at Juventus on Jan. 17, part of a brief run of strong results that now feels distant.

The recent head-to-head history favors the visitors. Lazio secured a 2-0 victory when the teams met in Rome on Nov. 3, 2025. Cagliari’s last home win against Lazio in Serie A dates back to 2013.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Lazio is projected to earn a 2-1 victory.

Lazio will face a quick turnaround, traveling to face AC Milan in a crucial top-four clash the following day, Sunday, Feb. 22. Cagliari’s next fixture is at Parma on Friday, Feb. 27.

Key matchup: Cagliari’s attack, which has failed to score in over 270 minutes of league play, must find a way past a Lazio defense that has kept clean sheets in two of its last five away games. Lazio’s midfield, led by Sergej Milinković-Savić, will look to control tempo and supply striker Ciro Immobile.

Injury report: Both teams are awaiting final fitness tests on key players ahead of matchday.

A win for Lazio would solidify its position in the European qualification chase, while Cagliari desperately needs points to distance itself from the relegation zone.
