Csakvari TK vs Karcagi SC

CSÁKVÁR, Hungary (Interstat) — Karcagi SC snapped a three-match losing streak with a 2-1 comeback victory over Csákvár on Saturday in NB II play, avenging two defeats from the previous season in a tightly contested match at Tersztyánszky Ödön Sportközpont.

The visitors, who had lost 1-0 and 3-2 in their two prior meetings with Csákvari TK this campaign, found an early response after conceding and held on for a crucial road win. The result flipped the script on pregame projections, as statistical models heavily favored the home side.

Csákvari TK started brightly and was rewarded in the ninth minute. Viktor Haragos found the net to give the home team an early lead, sending the home supporters into celebration with his early strike.

Karcagi SC, however, demonstrated resilience. Just before halftime, in the 44th minute, Márton Radics equalized to shift the momentum squarely in the visitors’ favor heading into the break.

That momentum carried directly into the second half. Merely four minutes after the restart, in the 48th minute, Shedrach Kaye completed the turnaround for Karcagi SC, scoring what would prove to be the decisive goal. The quick one-two punch from Radics and Kaye in the closing moments of the first half and opening of the second ultimately decided the match.

Despite sustained pressure from the home side in search of another equalizer, the Karcagi defense held firm to secure the three points. The victory moves Karcagi SC to a season record of 9 wins, 9 losses and 7 draws in NB II competition. The loss leaves Csákvari TK with a record of 9 wins, 6 losses and 10 draws in the league.

The match was a significant departure from the statistical expectations. Analysts at Interstat had given Csákvari TK a 79.6 percent probability to win and projected a 2-1 victory for the home side, a scoreline reversed by the actual result.

For Karcagi SC, the win provides a vital boost after recent struggles, having failed to score in their three previous league matches, all losses. They will look to build on this performance when they host Kecskeméti TE on April 19.

Csákvari TK, which had been in strong form with just one loss in its previous five league matches, sees its momentum checked. The team will aim to rebound next Sunday with a road match against Tiszakécskei LC.

The NB II season continues through May.
