GVVV vs Barendrecht

VEENENDAAL, Netherlands (Interstat) — Substitute Redouan Ouali scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute to lift visiting Barendrecht to a 2-1 comeback victory over GVVV in a Tweede Divisie match on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Sportpark Panhuis.

The result flipped both the pregame projections and the script from the teams’ earlier meeting this season. Statistical models heavily favored the home side, with Interstat’s game simulator predicting a 2-1 win for GVVV and its ELO system giving GVVV a 70.6 percent probability of victory. Furthermore, GVVV had won the reverse fixture 2-1 on Barendrecht’s ground back in August.

The first half passed without a goal but not without incident, as Barendrecht midfielder Justin Spies received the game’s only yellow card in the 13th minute. The deadlock was broken 10 minutes after the restart, but against the run of play, as GVVV’s substitute Brent Vugts found the net in the 55th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

The advantage was short-lived. Barendrecht responded just nine minutes later, in the 64th minute, when midfielder Quincy Veenhof equalized to make it 1-1. The momentum had firmly shifted, and Barendrecht completed the turnaround 11 minutes after that. Ouali, another impactful substitute, scored the game-winner in the 75th minute to seal a valuable three points on the road.

The victory improves Barendrecht’s record in the Tweede Divisie to nine wins, 11 losses and two draws. The team now sits mid-table, having halted a two-game losing skid that included a 1-0 loss to Kozakken Boys and a 4-2 defeat to VV Ijsselmeervogels in its previous outings.

For GVVV, the loss was a missed opportunity to build on the momentum of a 2-1 win over Koninklijke UD Deventer the previous weekend. Their league record now stands at eight wins, nine losses and six draws, leaving them just below Barendrecht in the standings.

Barendrecht will look to carry this winning form into its next match, a home fixture against Amsterdamsche W on Saturday, Feb. 21. GVVV, seeking to rebound, faces a difficult away test at Spakenburg on the same date.
