BILBAO, Spain (Interstat) — Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad played to a 1-1 draw in a tense Basque derby on Sunday at San Mamés.

Real Sociedad substitute Gonçalo Guedes opened the scoring in the 37th minute. Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ruiz de Galarreta secured the shared points with a dramatic equalizer in the 88th minute. The frantic La Liga match featured seven yellow cards. Real Sociedad’s Brais Méndez was sent off with a red card in the 83rd minute.

The result left both clubs with identical records in league play: no wins, no losses and one draw. The final score matched the projection from Interstat’s game simulator, though it contradicted the same service’s ELO system, which heavily favored Real Sociedad to win.
